50 SHOWS, 50 STATES, 50 DAYS:
FOLKSINGER ADAM BRODSKY PREPARES TO SET NEW WORLD RECORD FOR SOLO TOURING
Philadelphia’s Adam Brodsky will set a Guinness World Record for the Fastest Tour by Solo Performer with 50 shows in 50 states and 50 days.
PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 15, 2003) -- The plane tickets have been purchased and the geared stowed as Adam Brodsky prepares for his marathon trek across the United States with 50 shows in 50 states in 50 days.
The tour will kickoff on Sunday, August 3 with a performance in Newark, DE at the East End Cafe. The East End has been Brodsky’s home-away-from-home in recent years just outside of Philadelphia, PA.
From there, he will weave his way through the country with one show per day. The trip includes two flights - one to Anchorage, one to Honolulu. Hawaii will be a special adventure as his time in the air getting there and back will be longer than his time on the island. Brodsky will spend a mere six hours in Honolulu, HI and will perform at the airport. The other 48 days will be spent in his trusty conversion van - the Pequod.
Brodsky’s tour has been sponsored with donations from his fans. The tour will conclude on Sunday, September 21 with a performance at the Tin Angel in his hometown of Philadelphia.
Fans can keep up-to-date on the tour with photos and a tour diary on his website at www.fiftyinfifty.com. Excerpts from that tour diary will also run in the Philadelphia Weekly.
Adam Brodsky is an folksinger known for his brash sense of humor and clever songwriting. He calls his genre "antifolk" - where the legacy of Woody Guthrie meets the energy of punk rock. He was named "Best Folk Performer" by the Philadelphia City Paper in 2000-2001. This year, he performed at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in Kerrville, TX as a finalist in the Public Domain Foundation’s Songs to Life songwriting contest. The Public Domain Foundation was started by Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary who oversees the contest recognizing songs of social importance.
